According to statistics, there are 400,000 kids in care around the United States and over 5,500 in Virginia alone. These children and youth entered foster care and the child welfare system due to neglect and/or abuse from their birth parents. Children in foster care deserve to have a safe, loving, and stable home to grow up in. Foster and adoptive families are the answer to this problem.

You can improve a child's life by becoming a respite, foster, or adoptive parent. A respite parent provides care for a child for the short term, which is typically less than 30 days. A foster parent provides care for 30 days and beyond. An adoptive parent offers a permanent home after undergoing the adoption process and once parental rights are terminated.
